Rope Rescue Level Two Supervisor | Outreach Rescue

The Rope Rescue supervisor course enables personnel who already have a full range of basic skills to advance to a position where they are able to set up and supervise rope systems to solve a wide variety of rope rescues.

Students will have the opportunity to work on roof tops, steel structures and confined spaces as well as natural environments with all the different risks and problems these present. They will develop a sound understanding of the loadings and forces encountered in rescue rigging and ways of maximising the efficiency of access and recovery systems.

The course is assessed by a written paper and practical exercises throughout the five days.

Recommended Reading

You should review your organisation's documents that relate to working at height and rope rescue. Documents that you may encounter include:

  • Risk Assessments (generic, site or task specific)
  • Safe Systems of Work or Method Statements
  • Internal training guides or handbooks for working at height
  • Standard Operating Procedures

On the course you are going to become familiar with a range of equipment used for working at height. Each type of equipment has a manufacturer's instruction for use and it is good practice to read up on the equipment before using it.

There are numerous manufacturers' websites that contain information and you should visit them to improve your awareness of what equipment is available to use and its potential application.
