Paramedic Tutor
Rachel brings a wealth of experience in both emergency medicine and education. After 17 years in marketing and communications, she transitioned to frontline paramedic work with West Midlands Ambulance Service, where she served for eight years. Her background also includes event medical cover for high-risk sports such as BMX, triathlons, and showjumping.
Rachel now divides her time between Outreach Rescue and her role as Medical Operations Manager for a maritime medical solutions company, where she delivers specialist training, including STCW courses. She also volunteers with Cheshire Search & Rescue and Antigua & Barbuda SAR.
Her passion lies in seeing students develop their confidence and clinical skills, particularly paramedic students, who train with her over an extended period.
Senior Lecturer
Gareth’s career spans both military and civilian emergency response. He served for 14 years in the Royal Engineers, completing tours in Iraq, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Northern Ireland. Following his military service, he spent 20 years with the Welsh Ambulance Service, including five years as a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) paramedic.
With a strong academic background, Gareth now focuses on training future responders, ensuring they gain the confidence and skills to handle any situation.
Paramedic Tutor
Philip has over 25 years of experience in pre-hospital emergency care, beginning his career in 1998 as a 999 call handler for the NHS Ambulance Service. He progressed through the ranks, becoming an Ambulance Technician and qualifying as a Paramedic in 2005. His expertise led him to join the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) in 2010, where he served as an Operational Commander, managing high-risk emergency incidents.
Since 2017, Philip has focused on training, using his extensive frontline experience to prepare the next generation of paramedics and emergency responders. At Outreach Rescue, he ensures students develop the critical thinking and practical skills needed to excel in high-pressure environments.
Clinical Trainer (Critical Care Paramedic)
Keith is a highly experienced Critical Care Paramedic with over 20 years in emergency medicine. He qualified as a paramedic while serving in the military and later transitioned to the NHS, where he spent nearly a decade working on an air ambulance.
His role at Outreach Rescue allows him to pass on his specialist knowledge in pre-hospital critical care, preparing students to handle real-world medical emergencies with confidence and competence.
Freelance Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Instructor
Peter has dedicated over 40 years to pre-hospital emergency care, holding roles from frontline paramedic to Critical Care Specialist. His extensive career spans multiple ambulance services, including Surrey, Avon, and South Western Ambulance Services, as well as serving in a Special Operations Response Team.
Today, Peter specialises in training emergency responders in search and rescue environments, bringing decades of real-world experience to his teaching. His ability to translate complex emergency care principles into practical, hands-on training makes him an invaluable member of the Outreach Rescue team.
