How CITB funding works

For the 2026/27 financial year, eligible employers with 1–249 employees may receive 50% match funding for eligible training or a fixed contribution towards certain construction-specific health and safety courses. Eligibility and the available contribution must be confirmed by CITB before booking.

  • Courses on CITB’s flat-rate funding list receive a fixed contribution per delegate.
  • Courses with a relevant CITB standard that are not on the flat-rate list may receive percentage-based support.
  • First Aid courses are no longer fundable.
  • Training must be construction-specific to be considered.
  • Eligibility and the level of funding must be confirmed before booking.
  • Employers should speak to their local CITB Adviser to confirm whether a particular course is eligible and what funding may be available.

FAQs

How much of my training costs will CITB fund?

For the 2026/27 financial year, eligible employers with 1–249 employees can access either:

  • 50% match funding for eligible training;
  • or A fixed contribution for certain construction-specific Health and Safety courses.

Annual Employer Network funding caps are currently:

  • Micro employers, 1–9 employees: £1,500
  • Small employers, 10–49 employees: £2,000
  • Medium employers, 50–249 employees: £4,500

Funding is budget-led. Eligibility, contribution levels and annual limits are determined by CITB and may change.

What Outreach Rescue courses does CITB cover?

Course eligibility must be confirmed individually against CITB’s current funding arrangements. Construction-specific technical, safety and rescue training may be considered where it meets the relevant requirements. However, inclusion in the Outreach Rescue course portfolio does not automatically mean that a course is eligible.

Who can access the Employer Network funding?

To access an Employer Network, your business must be registered with CITB, up to date with its Levy requirements and located within an Employer Network area. Employer Networks currently support businesses with between 1 and 249 employees. Employers with 250 or more employees are directed to CITB’s separate Large Employer Fund.

Who can confirm whether my training is eligible?

CITB makes all eligibility and funding decisions. Outreach Rescue can provide course information, delivery options and a quotation, but we cannot approve funding or confirm that your business qualifies. Before booking, speak to your local CITB Adviser or Employer Network team. They can confirm:

  • Your organisation’s eligibility
  • Whether the proposed training is fundable
  • The contribution available
  • Your remaining annual allocation
  • The required booking and purchase-order process

Can funding be used for more than one course?

Potentially. Eligible employers may be able to use their annual allocation across several approved courses or employees. Every course must be approved by CITB, and the total support available remains subject to the employer’s annual cap and the Employer Network’s available budget.
