The College of Paramedics Granted 'Royal' Title

06.10.2025

The College of Paramedics has been granted permission to use the title ‘Royal’ from January 2026. Outreach Rescue congratulates the CoP and reaffirms its commitment to excellence in paramedic education through the Level 6 Diploma in Paramedic Sciences, currently awaiting HCPC approval.

Outreach Rescue is proud to celebrate the announcement that the College of Paramedics has been granted permission to use the title “Royal College of Paramedics”. The use of the Royal title will formally take effect from January 2026.

Recognition of Professional Excellence

Approved by His Majesty The King, this recognition reflects over two decades of work to advance paramedic education, clinical practice, and professional standards across the UK. Since 2001, the College of Paramedics has supported the profession’s development from an emergency response role to a vital part of modern healthcare.

“This historic recognition marks a defining milestone in the life of the College. It is a tribute to the generations of professionals whose commitment, skill, and service have shaped our profession, and it affirms the vital contribution that our members continue to make to society today... I believe this is a moment of celebration for our profession and for all those patients we care for in their times of need."

Tracy Nicholls OBE, Chief Executive, College of Paramedics

A Shared Commitment to Education and Standards

At Outreach Rescue, we share the College’s commitment to high professional and educational standards. Our Level 6 Diploma in Paramedic Sciences, currently awaiting approval by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), has been designed in collaberation with Qualsafe to meet national standards and the evolving demands of prehospital care. The vocational programme is expected to be approved and officially launched this autumn, and will focus on evidence-based practice, helping learners build the competence and confidence to work in challenging environments.

Looking Ahead

Collaboration between education providers and professional bodies remains essential to maintaining excellence and improving patient outcomes. We look forward to continuing our work with colleagues across the sector as the College adopts its Royal title in January 2026.

“We extend our congratulations to the College of Paramedics on this achievement. The forthcoming 'Royal' title reflects the strength and professionalism of our sector. At Outreach Rescue, we remain committed to developing paramedics who are ready to deliver safe, effective care when it matters most."
