In-date Mod 2 OR Mod 3 compliant award with in-date CPD and recertification. It is beneficial to have access to Resilience Direct and the Met Office Hazard Manager online facilities. Having a knowledge of Incident Command and JESIP is highly beneficial.

Reassessment is recommended every 2 years by means of a 2 day recertification course. This course satisfies Module ‘Water Incident Manager (5088EXQ)’ for the Diploma in Specialist Rescue and is worth 30 credits.
- Classroom lectures and presentations covering water rescue team resources and capabilities, multi-team search management, mass evacuation, welfare consideration for extended and large-scale operations, communication, incident management considerations, clear effective briefing and debriefing, crime scene and body recovery considerations, national water safety policies, the Civil Contingencies act, incident planning including interpretation of forecasts and forecasting flooding events and distribution.
- Delegates are issued a workbook and a personal reflection which is completed throughout the course and is assessed along with a written examination.
- Expect between 30 minutes and 60 minutes of homework to complete each evening in the workbook.
- Whilst this course is classroom based, practical table-top exercises are conducted to put the theory into practice through simulations to confirm learning.

This 2-day course is designed for personnel holding Mod 2, Mod 3, or Mod 4 awards who are required to command an asset in the operational area. The course teaches delegates to command a specialist rescue asset at the operational level.
